Loops in Knowledgeworker Coach scenarios link an element to a previous statement in the scenario, allowing learners to go through a situation multiple times if the course of the conversation requires it.
How can loops be used?
- Design exploratory learning: Learners independently explore different areas of the topic and return to the topic selection through the loop. This is especially relevant in scenarios with tutorial videos, where learners can select individual videos based on their needs.
- Easily integrate repeated elements: You don't need to create identical statements and reactions (e.g., small talk, possible conversation interruptions) multiple times, but can reference them again using a loop.
How to create a loop
Example: A scenario explains various functions of Knowledgeworker Coach with several short videos. Learners can choose which topic they want to watch (e.g., What is the structure of the scenarios? How does the "Behavior" layout work?) and return to the topic selection after each explanatory video to choose another topic if needed.
You can try out this example in the scenario Welcome to Knowledgeworker Coach.
- Open the Conversation or Training tab
- In the scenario tree, select the statement where the loop should start. In the example, these are the statements that contain the explanatory videos and should show the topic selection next.
You can link both reactions and statements to a previous statement. - Drag the blue arrow from the statement back to the appropriate previous statement (in this example: Welcome to Knowledgeworker Coach...). Alternatively, you can create the link in the menu on the right.
- In the scenario tree, the loop is represented by a gray icon:
When you hover over the icon, the corresponding paths are highlighted – helping you keep track. The completed scenario with loops is displayed in the scenario tree like this:
Notes on using loops
- Make sure to integrate loops in a way that avoids "endless loops". There should always be at least one response option that leads out of the loop or ends the scenario.
- To present the content clearly to learners and avoid overwhelming them, you can activate the option Hide visited reactions under Settings in the Preview tab. This prevents reactions that lead to the loop from being shown again in the second run-through.
- Loops are not available in combination with skills.
