Integrating a Coach Scenario in Knowledgeworker Create

Modified on Wed, 2 Apr at 5:00 PM

A Knowledgeworker Coach scenario offers versatile ways to enrich your content with practical knowledge. Depending on your goals, you can flexibly integrate the scenario into Knowledgeworker Create courses, for example:

  • Interactive introduction at the beginning of a course
  • Completion of a theoretical course section with practical application
  • Opportunity for continuous practice of conversation skills and soft skills
  • Interactive explanatory video that learners can explore step by step

Integration as a Package Medium

As a package medium, the Knowledgeworker Coach scenario is available to learners for practice, e.g., as an introduction to a topic or for skills training. The scenario is directly integrated into Knowledgeworker Create and is displayed exactly as it was configured in Knowledgeworker Coach — including feedback and the option to retry.

Important notes:

  • The scenario is not considered a question; therefore, no details about completing it are transferred, e.g. in a Learning Management System.
  • Passing or failing a scenario as a package medium does not affect course completion.

How to integrate a scenario as a package medium:

  1. Knowledgeworker Coach: Export the scenario as an xAPI package.
Use the Share option and select the xAPI/Web Package tab and then choose Download.

  2. Knowledgeworker Create: Insert the Medium element at the desired position in the course.
  3. Create a new medium.
Upload the package previously downloaded from Knowledgeworker Coach in the Media Asset form.
Then check the display in Knowledgeworker Create: For optimal display, you can, for example, select the largest section width in the section settings.

Integration as a Package Question

With a package question, you can integrate a scenario as a scored question or a trial question into your course. If the question is scored, the successful completion of the scenario is relevant for course completion.

Important notes:

  • Settings such as the retry option and the required score to pass are defined in Knowledgeworker Coach and cannot be changed for the scenario in Knowledgeworker Create.
  • If you make changes to the scenario, export it again from Knowledgeworker Coach to update the version in Knowledgeworker Create.

How to integrate a scenario as a package question:

  1. Knowledgeworker Coach: Export the scenario as an xAPI package.
Use the Share option and select the xAPI/Web Package tab and then choose Download.
  2. Knowledgeworker Create: Insert a scored or trial question at the desired position in the course.
  3. Create a package question.
In the Medium section, either select an existing package medium of a scenario or create a new package medium using the xAPI package.

Integration as Part of a Questionnaire

As a package question, a scenario can also be part of a questionnaire.

Important notes:

  • The settings you define for the questionnaire in Knowledgeworker Create (e.g., whether retry is allowed) will affect all  questions contained in it, including the scenario. Check the scenario in Knowledgeworker Coach before exporting to ensure a consistent user experience (e.g., retry option, formal or informal address) and align the settings in Knowledgeworker Coach and Create.
  • If the evaluation of the questionnaire is only displayed after all questions have been completed and not individually, the evaluation of the scenario will also only take place at the end and not immediately after its completion.

If you plan to make the course and the included scenario available in different languages, you can use the automatic translation function in Knowledgeworker Create and store additional information in the media form: In the Additional File section, you can upload the scenario's language file. You can learn how to use it for translation in the article Translation Functions.
