Labeling AI-translated Content

If you want to give learners the option to complete courses in their native language, you can create language variants using Automatic Translation. Since there is not always enough time and resources to review machine-generated translations in detail, it is possible to document in the system that these translations were machine translated.

Here's how to proceed

When you label AI-translated content accordingly, the language variant will be displayed with the label "machine translated".

You have the option to apply this label manually or automatically via the system:

• Manually: 

1. Open the Course Settings for the respective language variant that was created using Automatic Translation.
2. Select the Internationalization tab.
3. In the MarkAutomatic Translation section, you can enable and disable the option Show this language as machine translated at any time.
4. Apply the setting using Save and Update.
   

• Automatic Labeling: With this option, every automatic translation created within your organization in Knowledgeworker Create will be labeled as "machine translated". This label can also be manually deactivated again in the course settings. If you want to use the automatic labeling feature, please contact us.

In addition to the "machine translated" label, a disclaimer can be displayed to learners. The disclaimer informs them that the language variant was created using machine translation and may contain errors. It is shown the first time learners switch to a machine translated language.

Displaying marked language variants in the content

• Authoring panel in Knowledgeworker Create: When working on courses in Knowledgeworker Create, you can see in the language selection at the top of the authoring panel whether a language variant has been machine translated.
• Export dialog: In the language overview, machine translated versions are marked with the appropriate label.
• If a course is exported and published in only one machine-translated language, it is advisable to activate the disclaimer text, as there is no language selection menu in the course where information about the machine translation would otherwise be shown.
• PDF export: If a machine-translated language variant is to be exported, it is recommended to activate the disclaimer so it appears in the PDF.
• Learners will see the language variants in the bottom left section of the learner menu and can switch languages if needed. If a language selection page is enabled, the language variant is also labeled as machine translated there.
