Defining Mandatory Questions for Questionnaires Using Pooling

Modified on Mon, 12 Jan at 11:43 AM

In this article, you will learn how to define specific questions in a questionnaire using pooling as mandatory questions so that they are always shown to learners.

The mandatory question setting is available when a random selection is displayed from multiple questions in a questionnaire using pooling. To ensure that specific questions (e.g., on important compliance and safety topics) are always included in the random selection, you can define these questions as mandatory.

Defining mandatory questions

Proceed as follows:

  1. In the content area, select the questionnaire.
  2. In the right-hand area, open the Questions tab.
  3. In the list of questions, locate the relevant question or questions and expand additional options using the arrow below the question.
  4. Enable the Mandatory question setting.
Activated mandatory question checkbox in Questions tab

Questions marked as mandatory are shown to all learners, while questions that are not marked as mandatory continue to be selected at random. Mandatory questions can also be combined with knockout questions if the question must be answered correctly in order to complete the course.
