Creating curricula

Modified on Wed, 12 Aug at 5:42 PM

In Knowledgeworker Share, you can use curricula to combine several posts into a structured learning path, making the learning process clearer and more efficient for learners. Use them to group related content or content that builds on previous content. You can combine all post types and also map blended learning. This article explains how to create a curriculum and what to consider.

Curriculum administration

To create a curriculum, select Administration > Curricula > Create curriculum. Then complete the specified fields.

Title

This required field is where you enter a title for the curriculum.

Description

You can add descriptive text in this field. It is visible only to administrators in curriculum management; users do not see the description.

Domain

This required field is where you select the domain to which the curriculum is assigned. Posts added to the curriculum should be assigned to the same domain.

Creating a curriculum: settings

Strategy

Specify whether posts must be completed in a predefined order ("Fixed order") or whether learners can complete the posts in an order they choose ("Freely selectable").

The fixed order affects only posts that are mandatory for users: posts are unlocked only after the preceding posts have been completed. Until then, they remain locked and cannot be completed by users.

For optional posts, users can decide freely whether and in which order to complete them.

Select graphic

You can choose from several graphics to select the background used for the curriculum. The added posts are placed along the relevant path. You can adjust the path color individually in the color field below.

From ... to ...

Use these fields to define a validity period during which users can complete the curriculum.

Example: new curriculum

Add post

Here, you can add the posts that the curriculum should contain. If a required post is not displayed in the preselection, search for and add it by entering its title. Selected or already included posts are displayed below this field. You can then adjust their order using drag and drop.

In principle, all posts can be added to curricula, except recurring training posts. A post can also be included in multiple curricula. If a user is enrolled in a post through multiple curricula, they need to complete it only once.

The completion-behavior settings made on a post also apply in the curriculum. If a post is configured as mandatory, it must be completed to complete the curriculum. Mandatory posts are marked with an exclamation mark in this list.

Enrolment

To enrol users in a curriculum, assign the curriculum to one or more user groups. Users assigned to the user groups are thereby enrolled in the posts included in the curriculum. Enrolment occurs independently of the category values assigned to the post.

All other settings made for the post also apply in the curriculum. For example, if an enrolment period has been specified, enrolment through the curriculum also occurs only during that period.

Posts in which users are enrolled through a curriculum can be displayed and completed in the stream and in the curriculum.
