In this article, you will learn how to use the Tile Layout in Knowledgeworker Create and for which courses it is particularly well suited.
In the Tile Layout, Learning Objectives and Sharable Content Objects (SCOs) of the course are displayed as tiles that learners can explore independently. The layout is set via a corresponding layout theme. You can see an example in the Free Online Media Databases course.
Setting the Tile Layout
Here’s how to set the Tile Layout for a course:
- Find the corresponding course in the Course Search.
- Open the course Settings.
- In the Advanced tab, select the Tile Layout from the Theme dropdown.
- Save and Update the course to apply the changes.
If no Tile Layout theme has been set up yet, please contact Support for assistance.
Function of the Tile Layout
The Tile Layout is particularly suitable for courses that learners go through non-linearly, allowing them to use courses as "reference works."
Learners first see the selection of learning objectives in the course as tiles. If a learning objective contains multiple SCOs, a subsequent selection page of the corresponding SCOs follows.
Learners can immediately choose the topics that are relevant to them from the overview, create their own learning path through the content, and explore materials independently.
Notes for Course Creation
Since the Tile Layout was primarily designed for independent exploration by learners and for using courses as reference works, the following functions are not available in the Tile Layout:
- Status bar
- Use of target groups
