Setting the maximum number of attempts to pass a course

To manage the learning process in a targeted way and optimize assessment of learning success, you can limit the available number of attempts for successfully completing a course in Knowledgeworker Share. This article explains how to set the maximum available attempts for a training post.

The following requirements must be met:

• The course used must explicitly allow learners to fail and be configured accordingly.
• The "Users must pass quiz" option must be enabled for the training post.
• The "Maximum attempts" option must be set to a value between 1 and 6. This value defines how often learners can work on the course before they finally receive the "unsuccessful" status.

The "Users must pass quiz" and "Maximum attempts" options are located under Administration > Manage posts > Edit post > General, in the "Completion criteria" section.

How are attempts counted?

Each attempt corresponds to a learning session that is either successfully completed or failed. A session can be continued until it is completed. Multiple sessions can be completed for each enrolment. If the course is SCORM-based and ends with the "unsuccessful" status, this completion also counts as one attempt.

Under Reports > Enrolments, you can see how many attempts a user has used and the results achieved in the individual attempts.
