What is the difference between review mode, practice, and starting a new attempt?

To optimize learning success and allow your users to direct their own learning process, you can make learning content available for repetition even after a course has been completed successfully. This article provides an overview of the available options.

Practice

When this option is enabled, users can start and work through the content again after successfully completing the course by clicking the "Practice" button on the post in the stream or curriculum. The answers they give are not saved and the content can be repeated as often as required.

To enable this option, turn on "Post remains viewable after completion" under Completion criteria in advanced post editing. If the post specifies that users have a maximum number of attempts for completing the course successfully, practice mode is unlocked only after all attempts have been used.

Start a new attempt

By clicking the "Start a new attempt" button on the post in the stream or curriculum, users can open and answer the content again. Their answers and the result are saved.

If the "Participant can improve" option is enabled, the best result from multiple attempts is transferred as the final result. You can enable and disable the "Participant can improve" option under "Completion criteria" in advanced post editing.

If the post specifies that users have only a certain number of attempts to complete the course successfully, new attempts can be started only while attempts remain.

View last attempt

To allow users to start the content and view the answers from their last attempt, enable review mode in advanced post editing. Users then have access to the "View last attempt" button on the post in the stream or curriculum and can view the content and their answers again, but cannot edit them.

You can specify whether review mode should be available after the first attempt or only after all attempts have been used.
