Handling Course Copies

In this article, you will learn what to keep in mind when copying courses and why the targeted reuse of content is the right choice in most cases.

Advantages of Reuse Compared to a Copy

The architecture of Knowledgeworker Create is based on the single-source principle. Instead of duplicating entire courses, the targeted reuse of learning objectives and knowledge components is the standard approach.
Your advantages at a glance:

• Central updates: If you change a Sharable Content Object (SCO) in one place, this adjustment is automatically applied to all linked courses.
• No redundancies: You avoid redundant data and always retain full control over your content.
• Consistent quality: You only need to make corrections or updates once.

Copies of Individual SCOs

If you want to use an existing SCO as a basis for changes that do not apply to other places where this SCO is used, you can copy the SCO and then link it in a course independently of the original. Availability of a Course Structure Copy

If you need a course that differs from the original using new content, you can use a copy of the course shell with the course structure and adjust the structure accordingly.

Copying the course shell with the course structure allows you to efficiently reuse existing course structures in Knowledgeworker Create. Please note that this feature is not enabled by default, but can be requested via Support if needed. Once activated, a copy can be created using the Duplicate function in the "More" menu of the course.

The course shell is copied in full, and the Learning Objectives and SCOs it contains are reused.

Complete Course Copy upon Request

To support efficient data management, there is no full course copy feature by default that would create a copy of all Learning Objectives, SCOs, etc. contained in the course in addition to the course shell.
