The Complete Training button can be used to support an optimal course completion, especially when publishing a course as a SCORM package in a learning management system (LMS). It serves to properly complete the training and correctly transmit the learning progress to the LMS once again.
Adding the Button to the Course
In the editor, you will find the button in the Evaluation section. The button is displayed with the title Complete the course now. There should ideally be no further interactive elements or long texts following the button on the page where it has been placed, so that learners do not overlook the button.
Display for Learners
The button is initially displayed in gray, is inactive, and cannot be clicked. Only when the course is successfully completed does the button become colored and clickable for learners:
- If the course contains scored questions, it is considered successfully completed when the required percentage of questions has been answered correctly. You define the required percentage in the course settings under Mastery Score.
- If the course does not contain scored questions, the button becomes active once learners have viewed all relevant content.
Clicking the button explicitly transmits the current course status to the LMS once again. This ensures that the course is recorded by the LMS as passed and completed. However, even without using the Complete Training button, data is always sent to the LMS.
Notes on Using the Button
- Clicking the button may result in the browser window or tab closing in addition to the status transmission. This depends on the learner's browser settings. Therefore, make sure that the button is actually placed at the very end of the course to prevent learners from closing the browser window before viewing all content.
- If the inactive button should not be visible to learners, you can adjust the visibility for the corresponding section. For example, visibility can be tied to learning success so that the section is only displayed after achieving the required score. It is also possible to use navigation restrictions in the course so that learners can only navigate to the next chapter after viewing all relevant content in the current chapter.
- Please note that the button has no function in the preview view of the course in Knowledgeworker Create. To test whether the button works as intended, we recommend testing the course directly in the LMS.
